I had explored Mack 10’s entire discography except this one. I think the reason it flew under my radar is that it’s often mistakenly labelled as a compilation, which probably led me to overlooking it. The bulk of the production is handled by Young Tre, Mack 10’s official DJ, and it's rock solid throughout, delivering that classic west coast g-funk sound. Much like 'Mack 10 Presents Da Hood', this project seems to double as a platform to showcase lesser-known artists, many of whom aren’t exactly household names. Still, there are notable appearances from established rappers like Fat Joe, E-40, and Mack's own group, Westside Connection (with Ice Cube and WC). While this album might not get the attention it deserves due to how it’s often categorised, it’s a cohesive and enjoyable west coast record. The production is consistent, and while Mack isn't rapping a lot, the mix of veteran features and up-and-comers gives it a solid blend of familiarity and freshness. Definitely worth a listen for fans of Mack 10 or g-funk in general. Beats: ★★★☆ Rapping/Bars: ★★★ Hooks: ★★★☆ Best Tracks: Lights Out, Promise to Be a Hustla, Aint Got a Penny to Give, S.O.O. W.O.O Remix, Gather 'Round, Live Wire, Rule The World
