I'M A F****** STAR! THE WHOLE WORLD'S GONNA KNOW MY NAME!
Ai ai… Trilogia X, a melhor descoberta de 2023 (o filme foi lançado em 2022, mas eu assisti no comecinho de 2023). Geralmente é bem difícil eu me render às coisas que estão em alta, mas, neste caso, eu realmente não me arrependo de ter me rendido.
Que filme F0D@!! (vou tentar censurar os palavrões, pois creio que o IG está cortando meu alcance…)
Mas, vamos lá. Em 1979, um grupo de jovens está viajando estrada afora pelo interior do Texas para gravar um filme p0rn0.
Nesse grupo, temos a misteriosa e convencida aspirante a atriz Maxine Minx, seu namorado, um daddy chamado Wayne, que é o produtor; os atores Bobby-Lynne, uma loira padrão da época, e Jackson Hole, um negão de 2 metros; o diretor nerd RJ, e a cinegrafista Lorraine, que é namorada do RJ.
Esses seis jovens resolvem alugar uma casa em uma propriedade rural e gravar o filme pornô lá, já que o filme tem essa temática. A sinopse é que duas irmãs de um fazendeiro recebem um entregador de leite, e aí rola o clima; é uma coisa bem exagerada.
Ao chegarem na fazenda, eles encontram os proprietários, que são um casal de velhos que estão quase em decomposição, parecem ser centenários. O dono da casa, chamado Howard, recebe-os com uma espingarda, achando que são invasores, mas depois lembra que tinha combinado de alugar a casa dos fundos para eles ficarem.
Então eles se alojam e começam a gravação do filme (detalhe: eles não contaram que iam gravar o filme para os donos da fazenda).
Porém, quando os anfitriões da fazenda descobrem o que eles estão fazendo, eles têm que lutar por suas vidas, porque os velhos são uns doidos.
Eu simplesmente AMO esse filme! É muito bom, um típico slasher misturado com aquelas referências de trash dos anos 70/80. O embate final da final girl com a velha assassina Pearl é ótimo. Tem diálogos muito bons, personagens cativantes e um elenco de peso, como a querida neta da atriz brasileira Maria Gladys, Mia Goth, e a Jenna Ortega (Wandinha).
X is exactly what you hope for in a well-crafted slasher—and these days, that’s already saying a lot. Ti West revives the 1970s essence of the genre, with its gritty texture, deliberate pacing, and that mix of sex, violence, and tension so many recent attempts have forgotten. There’s no fear of splattering the screen with blood, but also no hesitation in adding dark humor and building characters who, while rooted in archetypes, feel more engaging than usual.
The atmosphere is spot-on: period music, grindhouse aesthetics, and a steadily rising tension that turns downright uncomfortable. West knows how to play with suspense, alternating moments of deceptively calm pauses with bursts of graphic violence that jolt the viewer. The gore is well-judged—enough to shock without feeling gratuitous—and the camerawork conveys both the sensuality and the danger surrounding the story.
The cast shines, with a magnetic Mia Goth owning the film and an ensemble that fully grasps the project’s tone. Each performer adds something to the game of seduction and death set up by the script. And while it doesn’t reinvent the genre, X reminds us why slasher became a classic in the first place: when done right, it entertains, scares, and leaves an unsettling aftertaste long after the credits roll.
In short, it’s a bloody, stylish feast—an homage that doesn’t just copy, but revives the energy of an era and channels it into horror that feels alive. A gift for anyone who thought slasher had nothing left to offer.
