Now we have the widely anticipated Alien film ever from last year after Alien: Covenant was made, Alien: Romulus. Some people are saying that it's the best and memorable Alien film since Aliens by James Cameron. And by saying the term "memorable" is for people who love the film for the most part or loads of people have seen every film in the world which is why there are over a million people who claim them to be considering why we liked the One Million Watched Club list from Letterboxd and that's what films are for everyone who have seen them on that list. Now we finally got a good film from the franchise for once and I will be discussing the franchise of what I love about it and how many times I watched them one by one. A Weyland-Yutani probe recovers a large cocoon from the wreckage of the USCSS Nostromo. Months later, at the run-down Jackson's Star colony on the perpetually dark planet LV-410, orphaned colonist Rain Carradine discovers that Weyland-Yutani has forcibly extended her work contract. Determined to escape, she teams up with her friends, Andy who is actually an android, Tyler, Kay, Bjorn, and Navarro. The group commandeers the hauler Corbelan IV to reach Renaissance, whish is an abandoned Weyland-Yutani station split into the modules Romulus and Remus, intending to steal cryostasis equipment to survive the nine-year journey to Yvaga III, an apparently idyllic planet unaffiliated with Weyland-Yutani. Since that now that this movie is actually really good, it's not without it's comparisions to which Alien films I watched the most and to be honest with you, guys, I'm more satisfied enough with Alien and Aliens which Alien Romulus actually takes place between the first and the second so that's enough to make a timeline more accurate and more historical to the origins own source material. I've watched the first one so many times and since that this is the first ever Alien film of the whole franchise, this is one scary film to ever date. I love the quietness to the atmosphere that makes it more creepy and silent. The second one is scary as well but it's got action put into it known foe the fact that it's James Cameron directed it and the atmosphere makes it more enjoyable like the first, this one is awesome. The action is awesome, Bill Paxton is enjoyably awesome in it along with the other marines and you can't have an Alien film without the absolute silence from it. That is to say is that both movies are as good as each other and you can't argue at me with that. And now we have the downhill ahead of us. With Alien3 being a disappointment for most people with loads of elements in this don't work. With the troubled production due to David Fincher who is fantastic director who directs really memorable film which I love, had expressed his anger and frustration towards the studio who treated him really badly because of his young age which led David to the point where he gave 20th Century Fox a big "FU" after he finished directing the film and he actually disown it by saying and I quote: "No one hated it more than me; to this day, no one hates it more than me." unquote. He massively refused to talk about the film because he's gone very bitter about it 'cause of the treatment the studio had treated him and he also blamed the producers for not putting trust in him. Mainly because they hated him as well. And as the people who hated the film was the entirety itself but it's because the only reason why Hicks and Newt had to be killed. And the reason for this is the ship had crash landed in the maximum-security prison full of r**ists and murderers and who would want Newt to hang around them anyway? She's only a child. So yeah, to the depressing production and the p*** poor changes to the script and the Fox logo sounded very different before the credits starts, David Fincher film debut really didn't work out well until Se7en. For me on another hand, I would absolutely say that the Assembly Cut is a much better version than the theatrical version so here's that. Now with Alien Resurrection which resurrected the franchise and people to this day say that it's a s**tty a**e sequel which completely killed the franchise so nothing more to say about that. The crossover movies which are two to them, Alien vs. Predator which is to say has nothing to do with the mythology but unfortunately I've only seen the first one. Now with the prequels, you get the picture because I've already reviewed them so here you go. And that's it, that's the entire franchise. Since I continuously watching the first two over and over again and I will stop watching until I die, they are both perfect films and with Alien Romulus, would I say the same thing about it, absolutely not. But as an exception of how to make a good Alien film, all I can say is this is not a seal of approval but still an incredible experience if you're really in the mood for a scary creature where is in this one used up lines from the first and the second film, well, mostly on the second because all I heard of now is "I prefer the term "an artificial person" myself." and of course "Get away from her, you b***h." Get away from her, you b***h? Like, are you kidding me? Like, who'd never heard of that line in general? I mean, wow. If they haven't heard or don't know that line, well, maybe I would actually say is: "Guess they don't like the corn bread either." With this movie sequel being the only one to be a good one since we love Aliens, the only good sequel and now with this one being so recent, I really know what to expect with this one. From what I heard right now is that another sequel is in the works called Alien Romulus or maybe some gibberish name after putting Alien in the title. I don't know. You know what? I should've watch this movie in the night as I did every night with the first and the second film along with the others starring Sigourney Weaver but in terms of this is a recent back in the day, I have no choice but to watch in the morning just to give it my whole thought to think about the film itself without forgetting elements I forgot about and what I think of it. The Alien franchise is one scary experience that everyone had to witness and that is one of the reasons why the alien itself is scary and creepy looking as I said before and it's very detailed if I say so myself. Good thing I'm not getting flashbacks from Alien: Isolation. I know you'll be expecting a long review in this one. And you know what, I don't care. That's what my reviews are for. I don't care what everybody says.
After two decades after when Gladiator was released, I never Ridley Scott ever had the b*****ks at continuing the story of doing the sequel of Gladiator. Yeah, like he did with the Alien prequels and that would be an improvement for him in doing many sequels of his own films but couldn't do Blade Runner, I would never had the thought of Gladiator will be getting a sequel but it did after Hollywood s***ms out their own sequels based on stand alone movies like Blade Runner and Trainspotting but became improvements so there's no denying that there's a saying many years saying that it's not as good as the first one which is impeccably true. There's no way it'll be as good as the first film because audiences love the first film really, really much for Oscar winning acting, cinematography, story and the environment. Just like your Moses and Shakespeare story. Now that we have the sequel to Gladiator, let's just see how this turns out in my review. Hanno lives with his wife, Arishat as it was many years later while Rome is corruptly ruled by the twin emperors. The Roman army led by General Acacius played by Pedro Pascal, invades and conquers the kingdom, killing Hanno's wife and enslaving him and the other survivors. The enslaved people are taken to Ostia, where the Romans pit them against baboons to advertise them as potential gladiators. He savagely kills one, impressing the stable master Macrinus played by Denzel Washington. So what do I think of the sequel? Well, I hear most people saying that the same thing but change many elements and you know what, I find it to be impressive. Ha! You'd expect to hear me say that I didn't like it, right? Well, your guess is absolutely incorrect. My guess is as good as yours. Yes, Connie Nielsen is back as Lucilla from the first film among others you might recognise and then we have Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington joining in the cast along with Tim McInnerny which whom I'm surprised to see. Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington appeared in The Equalizer 2 together and if Russell Crowe appeared in this one with Denzel as Denzel appear in the first one with him then you have American Gangster in Rome. Right? As Hanno wins the round in the games after he bit the baboon's wrist and Macrinus is impressed, the other gladiators chanting like baboons as they see him known that he bites monkeys. As watching this, I am surprised to see that plot really twists when something shocks you but didn't expect it to go in the different direction. That's when I had the same thing when the sequel really spices up the story whenever something up and took it to another direction. This is wild. With the sequel being incredible while similar to the first that people loved but it provides itself with the well acted performances, the story although very similar but took it the another direction which is one of the reasons why this film needs to exist, and Ridley Scott is incredible at doing it masterfully but not impeccably. It's violent and bloody as many recent films are going to be like that non-stop. Gladiator II is an enjoyable epic sequel that really makes up for it. Are you not entertained by it? I sure have. Aahahaha! Some are saying it didn't need to exist but that's the way life is whenever is making money, I know that's controversial of me saying that but many studios have run out of ideas. Needless to say this that I'm surprised to see that Paramount had something to do with this movie instead Universal just like it did the same thing with Blade Runner and Hans Zimmer didn't come back to do compose the music for this movie. With Gladiator 1&2 being directed by Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe appeared in the first one and Denzel Washington appeared in the second one, for me, I would watch American Gangster again after witnessing both in particular. Not as good as the first film but definitely bloody than the first film.
Well, after Prometheus, you would expect that Alien: Covenant will be getting a prequel follow up after finishing up what's on the table back in the day. Well, you're not getting it because this one really takes the s**tcake at the box office but not a failure but did not break even to make another one to continue up the story so that it could end the story from the prequel franchise properly before the beginning of the 1970's Alien but no, the box office beats the SB on this one. Covenant is en route to colonize the planet Origae-6, carrying 2,000 colonists and 1,140 human embryos in cryogenic stasis. A sudden supernova burst damages the ship and kills several colonists, including the captain. Android, Walter played by Michael Fassbender, awakens key personnel to address the situation. During repairs, the crew detects a human voice broadcast from an uncharted, habitable planet. Against the protests of his wife Daniels, Chris Oram played by Billy Crudup, who is the new captain now decides to investigate. The crew sends a lander to the planet's surface, where an expedition team tracks the broadcast to a crashed alien ship. With Ridley Scott coming back to the Alien franchise once again to direct this, I went into this with little expectations thinking what will come up next. Before this movie came out, I just bought a DVD box set of Prometheus to Alien: The Evolution because everyone knows and watches them so I decided to watch them myself. Covenant is the similar thing but with a proper looking alien this time known to be a xenomorph and how creepy looking it is and how scary it is I even remember back in that year, I remember playing the game of it called Alien: Isolation. Yeah, remember that game? Yeah, back in the day the first time I played it, it scared the living flying s**t out of me. And stating this years ago, I was planning on not wanting to play this videogame ever again after completing it because of how enormously scary it is but I resisted thinking I'm not a p***y anymore so I will not be fooled after the first time anymore. So with Alien: Covenant, I think I have a similar feeling when it comes to Ridley's direction and even much more blood and gore this time but the ending to this however, that is really something. Similar to the one with Aliens, this is not the end. It takes the direction you'd not be expecting but will do it again because the alien itself never does give up. It'll just keep going and going and going until you are dead. Full stop. Alien: Covenant is another one of those films that really push the boundries of what should makes the Alien film end but ended abruptly without a trace. And now we have an ending franchise that really p**s the bucket not even breaking the box office even like we thought we did but ended with a flawed abrupt mess but we can get over it, can we? And now that this time that this is final Alien film of the franchise and Disney now own the rights of Fox Studios, they'll be having plans of rebooting the franchise by making a memorable one like the one we got from last year called Alien: Romulus which got more hype and considered the memorably best Alien film since Aliens decades ago. So yeah, This might be useful considering. Now Prometheus and Alien: Covenant out of the way, I'm going to be having my full time fun doing what I normally do without any interruptions since I've been thinking about going to the nudy boobler the other day. Okay, if there is a chance, there is a dream.
A prequel where it all began, began like any other prequel where the humanoid alien drinks a black liquid, causing its body to dissolve and it crumble into a waterfall and the alien's DNA falls apart and starts to recombine. Ridley Scott is back in the franchise after directing the first film where it originally began in the 70's and Prometheus is the one that began the story where the crew explored the spaceship where it crash landed but it didn't end it like that only maybe Alien: Covenant began the original story from the 70's. I don't know if it was that or the mythology is messed up. I don't know. Two archaeologists Elizabeth Shaw and Charlie Holloway played by Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green, discover a star map in Scotland that matches others from several unconnected ancient cultures. They interpret this as an invitation from humanity's forerunners, the "Engineers". The Prometheus lands on the barren, mountainous surface near a large, artificial structure. The team explores the interior, discovering stone cylinders, a monolithic statue of a humanoid head, and the decapitated corpse of a large alien. Since that it's been years I reviewed the entire quadrilogy even in Halloween just to get this scary feeling when I feel that the creature itself is scary looking and has acid for blood but this one, it doesn't appear in it at all but you do get the feeling that the alien is inside of someone whenever something is wrong. Michael Fassbender as we all know is a good actor as in this movie, he does have a strong compelling presence as an android as he is known to be very posh and his favourite film is Lawrence of Arabia. Now with the prequel itself on the other hand, as much as I enjoyed it but there's nothing to it apart from the visuals in this are absolutely gorgeous. Everything about it is so life hearted and organic looking as it gives you a breath of fresh air whenever the visuals popped up like a dangerous animal you'll come across. It's like you're watching a documentary of wildlife whenever you need to feel relived. Prometheus is something that really began as I said today where it all began like any other prequel like you'd expect until now where an alien is originally created and how the Weyland company wanted that alien creature for the weapon's division and the crew don't approve of it claiming it will kill everyone on the planet and they'll do anything to destroy it. This movie is by know means as good as the original first and second like never will be but it's still a gorgeous looking flick with some might find it confusing or crap so you'll have to know what to expect when it comes to prequels that become more generic and might just give you the finger so when it comes to the franchise, this is just a decent film and I'm might be looking forward in doing Covenant after this so yeah.
Damn, they're have to be so many recent horror movies that came out every recent years and later that had to be so graphic it'll make them feel to their stomachs but man enough to do so like myself which is why Smile 2 has got to be the most bonkers out of all of them even though a lot had to be bonkers too. Since I already reviewed the first one which I found to be a decent horror film with satisfying blood and scares but found the ending disappointing but makes up for this one which takes place after the first film so here's that. After the long shot gory opening, Pop star, Skye Riley played by Naomi Scott, is preparing her comeback at touring following her substance abuse including her horrific car accident killing her boyfriend. Despite constant supervision from her mother/manager and their assistant, Skye sneaks out to buy Vicodin from her high school friend, after injuring her back in rehearsals. At his apartment, She witnesses him screaming and panicking before collapsing in an apparent seizure. He gets up, smiling, and smashes his face in with a barbell plate. Afraid of being found in a room full of drugs thinking everyone thinks she has something to do with it, She leaves without alerting anyone. Now cursed herself, Skye begins to experience deranged hallucinations of people smiling at her, causing her mental health to rapidly deteriorate. The way I require this before seeing it, I notice that it's going to be the same thing but much gorier than the film one and this is how intense this experience actually is whenever people are at the edge of their seats to see how the hallucinations are going to get to them as well whenever they'll be having nightmares about it after they've seen it at the cinema. When Naomi is on stage rehearsing, I didn't want anything to go wrong until broke her back or seen hallucinations which it did went wrong because of it and I didn't expect a Drew Barrymore show in the film which is actually part of the story after a gory opening. The one thing I actually notice is that somebody walking towards Skye while smiling while she's given a speech about her comeback and the flashback with him and her and the one that she is with is actually the son of Jack Nicolson, Ray Nicolson. Yeah, how ironic is that? Of course you heard me mentioning that Sosie Bacon is the daughter of Kevin Bacon from the first movie she's been in. And now the same thing that happened in the sequel and I heard that they're making a third one after this one so I hope they'll do the same thing by starring someone's son or daughter and not through the same trope that they in the first and second. I'm thinking that Bryce Dallas Howard would star in the third. I just had my theories with it. So as it is, Smile 2 is one bloody and gory sequel to Smile that is messed up and bonkers like any horror film is and better than the first Smile but hey, don't worry, I still find the first one good for what it is and horror aspects are really enjoyable as well. What makes Smile 1&2 to be scary is what you see on the screen itself even towards the very end and you don't know what is going to happen. It is that scary! And Naomi Scott whom you may recognise her from Disney's live action version of Aladdin and Charlie's Angels reboot is one final girl like Sosie Bacon because who doesn't want actresses to appear in main horror roles? Of course they do because who doesn't like before? If the horror franchise itself continues to be scary, graphic and horrifying then, Hoohoo boy, people are gonna have one hell of their later years of nightmarish experience when the third film is going to be anticipated and memorable and that will get their attention like before. If I was like this smiling and planning what I will do to my victims. OOOOOHHH! Of course you know I have a calm facial expression and when that moment comes, don't worry, you'll know when that time comes so stay tuned for that and smile for the camera. (Laughing)
