This used to be one of my favorite podcasts. But then Floydapalooza/Summer of Hate 2020 happened and suddenly McRaney abandoned all pretense of objectivity & logical consistency in favor of blatant Leftist bias and propaganda. And the show has gone down the crapper ever since. This podcast before 2020 - 4.5 stars This podcast since 2021 - 1.5 stars

Tulsi has been one of my favorite people for many years now. Unlike her peers, she puts integrity and accountability above partisan tribalism. And now she brings those qualities to a great new podcast. Loving it so far!

If you're not following Krystal and Saagar's fantastic bipartisan podcast, Breaking Points, you definitely should. Krystal Ball (from the Left) and Saagar Enjeti (from the Right) are seasoned pros who together cut through the corporate tribalist bullshit like a knife through butter. I may not always agree with them, but I find their candor and integrity a refreshing change from the shamelessly hypocritical groupthink found almost everywhere else.

Why have I never heard of Ethel Ennis before??? If you're a fan of 50's vocal jazz, this album is a must-hear. Her voice is perfect, sultry at times, longing at others, always hitting just the right tone. The arrangements are subtle and sophisticated (with Hank Jones on piano). The production is atmospheric and timeless. And every song is a beauty. These traits combine to make this easily one of the best releases of 1955. After this album blew me away, I set out to binge-listen to the rest of Ennis' catalog. And while her other albums don't quite match this peak, the ones I've heard are all fantastic. For an interesting contrast, I also recommend her sadly-overlooked "comeback" album, Ethel Ennis, recorded 38 years later. She's still got it! So why isn't Ethel Ennis ever mentioned when discussing the great ladies of Jazz? For what it's worth, I'll be doing my part to correct that injustice.
